Commentary on the Master’s Message

“The annam is Brahman. Everybody knows this. Because by that you are going to live. Not only by the consciousness of Babuji that will live, but also by the physical form of his expression, namely food also you eat. But let this not be earned by foul means. Because Divinity has willed it. Such a way that you can get what you want in a very, very natural way. That is the profound theory that the Hindus have practiced saying that God having created man has also provided a means for his subsistence. Nobody questions this. But we forget. We then start thinking that we have to create. We have to create an asset. We have to go on accumulating. That again means, many times, means-resorting to foul methods. A foul thought. A foul thought immediately pollutes the food that you eat. You know pretty well when you eat something whether you have earned by pious means or impious means. That thought is there. That thought automatically covers it. And you eat polluted food. This pollution is entirely different from the pollution that our environment has talked about. They talk about physical pollution. Here it's a mental pollution which is much worse. This is much worse than that. So polluted food is what we should not have. In order to keep it as a pure food, we have got to always think that this is what Divinity has blessed me to live. And he says your living should be in such a way. as to justify what you get as your food. Because you are living your way of life or what we call avocation is primarily meant for earning food. Nothing else. Not for your expressing your ego. Not expressing for, 'self-expression', 'self-esteem', external concepts of motivation. All those things are well understood. But fundamentally, why do we work? We work to see one. to express the Divine. Two, continue to express yourself. Otherwise you will exhaust. You will die. You have no right to suicide. Nobody has got that right. Nobody has got a right to kill himself. Because Divinity has thought it fit to express itself through you. It fixes the time when you should get back. It is not for you, its time. Your existence was not dependent upon your will, nor is your existence going to be dependent upon your will. In order to see that you continue to live, And express yourself at the optimum level you ought to work. But that shall not be something that is foul. What is foul? What is not correct? What is right? These are not discussed by Babuji. Because your conscience is the best guide which tells you whether you have earned that food honestly or dishonestly. Nobody need tell you when you have earned dishonestly, that you have earned your dishonest food. If it pricks your conscience, you should automatically know there is something wrong”
