Objective study using Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurement to establish the tangible effect of Pranahuti on the inner balance of the autonomous nervous system.
Introduction
Imperience, Centre for Training and Research in Pranahuti Aided Meditation has undertaken a study to establish the effect of Pranahuti on the inner balance of persons by measuring the balance of the Autonomous Nervous System. Balance is always a dynamic interaction between activation and relaxation systems in the body influenced by both Mind and Heart.
In Pranahuti Aided Meditation, the meditator gets the assistance from another person in meditation through Pranahuti. Pranahuti or transmission of superfine thought is the most unique feature of the system. It is offered by a trainer who assists the aspirant to develop the capacity for balanced existence while simultaneously assisting in spiritual progress. It is no mystic or mysterious force and does not require words or touch or any other physical aids.
Earlier Studies
The earlier study by the Institute was totally subjective, based on feedback given by participants. In 88% of the meditation sessions, persons reported various feelings clustered broadly under: Happiness, Tranquility, Freedom, Vibrations, and Aspiration. It was proved that persons irrespective of age, gender, or educational qualifications were able to feel the influx, which proves the universal nature of Prana and our oneness with it.
Methodology
The inner balance scan instrument is a gadget called “Inner Balance Scan”, a product from Biocom Technologies U.S.A., which measures the Heart Rate Variability (HRV) for a period of 5 minutes and gives a graphical output where the balance condition is depicted. A pre-test measures the balance condition before the influx of Pranahuti and the post-test depicts the condition after.
The test was conducted immediately before and within 30 minutes after meditation to ensure uniform controlled test conditions.
Participants
120 participants took the test:
- 52 freshers — persons with their first exposure to Pranahuti
- 68 abhyasis — persons practising PAM with repeated exposure to Pranahuti
Key Findings
- In both groups, there is a measurable change in balance condition due to Pranahuti — only 5.7% of freshers and 8.82% of abhyasis showed no change.
- The effect of Pranahuti is almost similar in both groups: depleted regulatory efforts in 50% of freshers and 45.58% of abhyasis.
- Pranahuti works in the subconscious mind while the conscious mind remains active with its habits, therefore moulding takes time.
Conclusions
From this preliminary study, which is a first of its kind, it can be concluded that there is a tangible effect on the inner balance due to the influx of Pranahuti. This study also proves that Pranahuti alone cannot enhance the balance but only assists the individual’s effort to improve it. Pranahuti assists in the process naturally and is not a replacement for one’s efforts.
It is desired that more people practising PAM participate in such studies to validate the system on scientific principles.
